The purchase of adaptive equipment or an accessible vehicle is a major investment. However, there are a variety of funding resources available to qualified individuals. One such resource is the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF).
What is the PATF?
The PATF is a non-profit organization that provides low-interest loans to people with disabilities, as well as older individuals, so that they can buy the assistive technology devices and services they need.
Adapted vehicles and seat lifts are among the items categorized as assistive technology devices by the PATF. Assistive technology services are those that help with the selection, acquisition/use of an assistive technology device and or the maintenance/repair of those devices. Therefore, qualified individuals can apply for a loan to help in the payment of these products/services.
Who is Eligible?
If you are an older Pennsylvanian or simply a Pennsylvania state resident who needs assistive technology, then you are eligible to apply for a loan from the PATF. In addition, family members may apply on behalf of children or other family members with disabilities. Advocates, guardians, and authorized representatives may also apply for a loan from the PATF if the device or service is for a person who needs assistive technology.
